Position Summary

Opinion leader liaison role (OLL) is a key field-based position supporting the commercial efforts of the US Hematologic Oncology portfolio. The OLL directly engages with key opinion leaders and organized customers such as academic institutions across the hematologic oncology segment and will gather insights among these customers, lead development of commercial strategies, and execute tactics to support the overall portfolio. Requires an exceptional business leader with deep hematology/ Oncology experience who will work cross-functionally to drive results in four main areas: 1) OL Strategy and Engagements to include Identification of HCPs for Commercial Programs such as speaker bureau, training, Commercial Advisory Boards and identifying HCPs for such opportunities, and other transactional engagements. Also, coordinate and lead regional Strategic Planning and Business Development specific to key OL influencers within a specific geography 2) Academic account strategy & execution 3) Develop the national and regional commercial strategy focused on customer engagement opportunities and congress coordination of necessary field teams etc. and 4) Strategic Projects based on Opinion Leader (OL) insights both at national and regional level to drive innovation.  This role will coordinate OL interactions with other field teams (Sales Management, Account Managers, medical liaisons, and enterprise accounts). All promotional practices will be held to the highest ethical standards and will adhere to the regulatory requirements of the FDA and other government agency guidelines, without exception. 

Opinion Leader (OL) strategy & engagements

  • Create and lead an OL / customer engagement plan
  • Engage with OL’s and serve as their primary point of contact for marketing
  • Create and maintain current hematology/oncology segment OL lists & track engagements. Enable a “One MorphoSys” experience for these OLs by ensuring all functions are aware of activities with OL.
  • Prioritize OLs and coordinate/facilitate interactions with other field team members (RSDs, OAMs, EADs, MSLs, etc.). The OLL will prioritize travel to maximize efficiency across product portfolio and engage field teams to foster relationships. The OLL will connect OLs to appropriate internal stakeholders as needed.
  • In collaboration with medical, lead and direct insight gathering among OLs including 1:1 engagement, small group meetings, and national and regional advisory boards to gather actionable commercial information
  • Play a role in promotional speaker identification and training

Academic Strategy

  • Based on customer insights, develop the optimal commercial strategy and tactics for Academic accounts
  • Develop success metrics for the strategy and then track performance and course correct as needed.
  • In partnership with other functions (as needed), implement commercial strategy with academic accounts
  • Prioritize top academic facilities across portfolio and optimize facilitation and coordination of appropriate interactions between HQ colleagues and Academic centers.

Meetings & Conventions

  • Develop the national and regional commercial convention strategy and plan for the hematologic oncology portfolio. Develop success metrics for presence at these key meetings and then track vs. goals. The OLL will prioritize key conventions focused on hematologic oncology and engage other field teams where possible to efficiently manage across the portfolio.
  • coordinate the commercial sales presence at key national meetings, including ASCO & ASH, as appropriate
  • Create tools/programs in coordination with marketing teams to enable field colleagues to have a presence at regional meetings as appropriate
  • Develop a prioritized plan for OL meetings & engagements at conventions that includes clear commercial objectives and key discussion points.

Strategic Projects (limited to only prioritized therapeutic area)

  • Based on insights from OLs and market research, develop proposals for strategic national or local promotional projects that drive innovation while meeting key business objectives where applicable
  • Coordinate and lead the OL interface for these specific promotional projects which could include things like OL whitepapers and speaker programs
  • Develop Lymphoma and or leukemia case studies which highlight the real- world experience with Monjuvi where applicable.
  • Monitor OL opinions and sentiments about current and future treatment patterns that may impact the Morphosys portfolio and provide feedback for consideration in the development of brand strategic plans.
  • Develop OL strategy and plans that integrates with Field Sales Business planning and Market Access account plans

Minimum Education/Skills/Experience

  • Demonstrated success in influence/negotiation and proven ability to build and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with key external and internal stakeholders, including opinion leaders.
  • Meets challenges consistently and confidently with energy and enthusiasm. Fosters mutual trust and respect with both external & internal stakeholders.
  • Hematologic oncology experience and existing strong relationships with thought leaders for their given geography.
  • Proven track record of quickly identifying business needs and extracting key insight. Experience tracking performance to goals and course adjusting as required.
  • Excellent communication skills both in 1:1 environments and larger group settings.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience
  • BA/BS - degree required.
  • Frequent travel is required: 60% Domestic Travel.
  • Prior launch experience
  • Experience developing and implementing novel approaches in the US Oncology marketplace, including pull through programs, innovative tactics, and alternative sales models

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Advance degree preferred. Science or clinical background a plus.
  • Experience in advisory boards and conventions preferred
  • Lymphoma and or leukemia experience preferred
