Position Summary

We are looking for a Head of Business IT (gn) to deliver enterprise applications and capabilities for the non G&A Functions which includes the Research & Development, Technical Operations, Commercial and Medical Affairs organizations. This role will report directly to the Head of IT based in Planegg, Germany and will be a member of the IT Leadership Team. Though broad technical expertise is required, this senior position will play a critical role in articulating highly technical concepts in business terms while driving innovative, SaaS-based solutions in one cohesive ecosystem. He / she must have a strategic mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The success of the role will be based on this person’s ability to build strong business relationships as a trusted IT partner through effective leadership and management. Although this is a senior leadership role, we expect our new Head of Business IT non-G&A Functions (gn) to also hands on to drive initiatives forward or manage the operations of capabilities.

Your Responsibilities

  • Partner and build up strong business relationship with business leaders to understand their needs, and work to ensure system investments are properly prioritized, scoped, delivered, and managed in support of business requirements
  • Lead the technical delivery of IT solutions approved within the portfolio, support their ongoing use, and drive their continuous improvement and business efficiency
  • Ensure related IT systems are compliant with quality assurance, regulatory, and legal requirements
  • Manage strategic vendor partner relationships and engagements
  • Prepare and present project proposals to management and business partners
  • Contribute, prepare, monitor, and control the annual department budget to ensure expenditure is in line with the business plan
  • Conduct ongoing research into industry and technology trends
  • Lead a team of five employees located in Planegg and Boston
  • Develop a high-performing team that produces quality results through shared accountability

Your Skillset

  • Ideally 15+ years’ work experience, including at least five years in a managerial / leadership role in the Biotech/Pharma industry
  • Broad IT management experience, with emphasis on Life Sciences-related systems delivery required – understanding of CSV and GxP controls, experience in an FDA-regulated environment is required
  • Experience with the use of SDLC methodologies in project delivery is required
  • Experience working with Veeva applications is highly desired
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under strict timelines
  • Ability to operate in a cross-functional / matrix environment
  • Superior organization, planning, and project management skills
  • Strategic mindset with strong analytical foundation
  • Strong understanding of business processes in Biotech/Pharma R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain Management, Commercial and Medical Affairs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Business fluent in English – German is a plus
